Two projects funded under FP7 Industry – Academia Partnerships and Pathways programme
18.12.2009 – TALLINN. European Commission published the evaluation results of the latest Industry - Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) project proposals, which grant funding for four years to both applications (WaterS, TEAM) consulted by Invent Baltics Ltd consultants.
IAPP aims to stimulate intersectoral mobility and increase knowledge sharing through joint research partnerships in longer term co-operation programmes between organisations from academia and industry, in particular SMEs and including traditional manufacturing industries.
The objectives of the WaterS (Strategic partnership for improved basin-scale Water quality parameter retrieval from optical Signatures) proposal coordinated by Tartu Observatory include the development of ground-based techniques for the observation of optically complex waters; increasing the operational monitoring capability of EO data; improving the understanding of optically complex waters and incorporating this advancement into commonly used remote sensing tools published as open source code, to assist implementation and operations of operational remote sensing services in the region.
The consortium includes two more academic partners: Stockholm University (SWE), Finnish Environmental Institute (FIN) and three knowledge intensive industry participants: Vattenfall Power Consult (SWE), Water insight BV (NED) and Brockmann Consult (GER). The overall budget and the corresponding EC contribution to the project is ca 2 million EUR.
The general research objective of the TEAM (Transferring knowledgE in Academic knowledge Management) project is to develop innovative academic knowledge and information management solutions in the form of a solid back-end data management system and a consistent database of academic knowledge, driven by semantic algorithms, to efficiently manage and share academic knowledge and to achieve superior recommendations for academic content based on personal profiles and user preferences.
TEAM project will be coordinated by Graz University of Technology in Austria with industry partners Mendeley Ltd (UK) and ELIKO Technology Development Centre (EST). The overall budget and EU contribution is estimated at approximately 1.23 million Euros.
